AllSky Camera MOSFET Switch

Here we have a basic MOSFET electronic switch that enables you to control higher voltage circuits, say 12V DC, with a low voltage, say 3.3V or 5V DC from a microcontroller such as the Raspberry Pi.

The MOSFET can be used as a plain old switch, but its switching frequency can reach up to 1MHz (1 million times a second), much faster than a mechanical relay.  By varying the 'on' time and 'off' time in the microcontroller (such as an Arduino or Raspberry Pi), you can effectively vary the power to the load.


Input drive level is between 3V and 5V DC, so can connect directly to a GPIO pin on the microcontroller

Output is up to 40V DC / 5 Amps maximum.


There are two screw terminals on the circuit board. One for switching the power source to the load and the other for connecting to the microcontroller.  No wires are supplied with the circuit.  Various colours and wire types can be found under the 'Cables' section.
